Holi (also called Holaka or Phagwa) is an annual festival celebrated on the day after the full moon in the Hindu month of Phalguna (early March). It celebrates spring, commemorates various events in Hindu mythology and is time of disregarding social norms and indulging in general merrymaking.

Holi is probably the least religious of Hindu holidays. During Holi, Hindus attend a public bonfire, spray friends and family with colored powders and water, and generally go a bit wild in the streets.

History and Meaning of Holi

Celebrated all over India since ancient times, Holi’s precise form and purpose display great variety. Originally, Holi was an agricultural festival celebrating the arrival of spring.

This aspect still plays a significant part in the festival in the form of the colored powders: Holi is a time when man and nature alike throw off the gloom of winter and rejoice in the colors and liveliness of spring.

Holi also commemorates various events in Hindu mythology, but for most Hindus it provides a temporary opportunity for Hindus to disregard social norms, indulge in merrymaking and generally “let loose.”

The legend commemorated by the festival of Holi involves an evil king named Hiranyakashipu. He forbade his son Prahlad from worshipping Vishnu, but Radhu continued to do offer prayers to the god. Getting angry with his son, Hiranyakashipu challenged Prahlad to sit on a pyre with his wicked aunt Holika who was believed to be immune to fire. (In an alternate version, Holika put herself and Prahlad on the fire on orders from her brother.)

Prahlad accepted the challenge and prayed to Vishnu to keep him safe. When the fire started, everyone watched in amazement as Holika was burnt to death, while Prahlad survived without a scar to show for it. The burning of Holika is celebrated as Holi. According to some accounts, Holika begged Prahlad for forgiveness before her demise, and he decreed that she would be remembered every year at Holi.

It’s been long time I not write here. Last 3 weeks were so busy. My cousin gets married on February 14, 2009. So, I was busy in that from February 8, 2009 till he went back to Australia on February 23, 2009. After those busy weeks, I need rest and at that time I have this thought in mind that if there is no sleep in life than how our life would be?

Can anyone imagin a life without sleep? What and how our life could be without sleep? I know in those busy days around 11-00 pm I got so tired and I just want to sleep. When I weak up in the morning I was 100% fresh, Recharge. Now I am thinking and asking my self what GOD is going when we sleep? What makes us back to normal and letting us feel so fresh when we weak up in morning? Anyone can tell me? Please send me your inputs.

One more thing lets check your mind and have some brainstorming with following question. How our life be if we don’t have sleep?

Merry Christmas to all. I like to wish HAPPY NEW YEAR to all. Beginning of 2009 and end for 2008. Time is running out very fast. I feel like 2008 just started few weeks back. And we are at end of 2008 now. 361 days completed.  Just 4 days left now.  Isn’t its time to make a evaluation statement for our self? Where I was at the beginning of 2008 and where I am at the end of 2008.

Business needs to make evaluation statements at regular intervals. Like weekly report, monthly statement, quarterly statement, half yearly statement and yearly statements. If you are aware with what business communities doing with all these statements, each statement get analyze. Top level management evaluates the monthly statement and from that they predict and plan for half yearly and yearly behavior of company. Again with quarterly statements they compare what was projected and what happy in actual, than plan again for next quarter. And with such analysis businesses makes profits and earn money. If they don’t analyze their behaviors during the year, they don’t come to know where they are going- towards profits or towards loose?

Same way in human life, each day passes with guarantee of not going to come back.

There is no one to ask us about our profits and loose as being human weather we are going towards upward side in life or towards downward? I believe as there is no one to ask us, we need to be more conscious about that part because there is no control on that.

I think one should ask following questions to him/her self.

• Do I need to analyze year 2008 for my self?

• Year 2008 good or bad for me as individual in material sense.

• Year 2008 good or bad for me as individual with reference to me as human, me as live identity or we can say it with reference to spirituality?

Monday and also first day of month. Last week was so bad cuz of Mumbai attack. I like to know how day was for you all my friends.

For me it was as is, started with my morning walk, then went to drop my son to school and than I came to office. I am still in the office and it’s around 8-40 pm. I am going home soon. So, I must say it’s end of a normal, busy, roution working day without having any effect or impact of Mumbai event.

It might be reflected in politics. Many politician resign and FM become HM and PM is having FM charges. Industry is excited to have PM as new FM. Let’s see how it work and how it’s going to help businessman as well as common man that’s CM.
