Role of sleep in life

February 28, 2009

Good Evening friends,

It’s been long time I not write here. Last 3 weeks were so busy. My cousin gets married on February 14, 2009. So, I was busy in that from February 8, 2009 till he went back to Australia on February 23, 2009. After those busy weeks, I need rest and at that time I have this thought in mind that if there is no sleep in life than how our life would be?

Can anyone imagin a life without sleep? What and how our life could be without sleep? I know in those busy days around 11-00 pm I got so tired and I just want to sleep. When I weak up in the morning I was 100% fresh, Recharge. Now I am thinking and asking my self what GOD is going when we sleep? What makes us back to normal and letting us feel so fresh when we weak up in morning? Anyone can tell me? Please send me your inputs.

One more thing lets check your mind and have some brainstorming with following question. How our life be if we don’t have sleep?

Good morning again friends!  I am very big fan of this music master.  He sings good.  He composed all his songs.  And all were my favorite.

The little master from Chennai, AR Rahman has made India proud by winning the eagerly awaited Oscars for ‘Best Original Score’ and the ‘Original Song Award’ for Slumdog Millionaire .

Taking a bow at the coveted red carpet ceremony, Rahman’s acceptance speech during the Best Original Song Award was a moving encore. “All my life I had two choices – between love and hate and I chose love,” declared Rahman to an enamoured Hollywood audience.

Dedicating the trophy to his country, Rahman also sought his mother’s blessings and love. Citing the famous line from the yesteryears Bollywood hit Deewar – Rahman stated ‘Mere paas Ma hain,’ (I have my mother with me), as he accepted the award for Best Original Score. Rahman’s soulful rendition of his nominated track Jai Ho was a fitting declaration of his talent on an international platform.

Jai Ho Rahman, we salute your musical prowess and hope you add many more triumphs to India’s musical sojourn.

The composer was overwhelmed and interspersed his speech with Hindi as well as Tamil on receiving the coveted trophy here Sunday.

I am glad she could be here,” said Rahman.   He ended the acceptance speech by saying “God is great” in Tamil, something he says after winning every award.  He shared the second Oscar for best original song for the film’s theme number Jai Ho with noted Indian lyricist Gulzar.

A special performance by specially-abled

February 23, 2009

Good morning friends.  When I heard news about specially-abled children, I feel the admiration with my heart.  The government should focused on that kind of children.

They might give Bollywood dancing sensations a run for their money! Shaking a leg to salsa, jive and hip hop fused with Bollywood numbers, a group of specially-abled children stunned the audience at Tagore Hall on Sunday.

These special children were performing at the celebration of 25 years of Madhurya Bhuvan a centre in Bapunagar which helps specially abled children and youth in Ahmedabad. Laxmi Patel, one of the special children was delighted after being applauded by a huge audience.

Sister Elsa Rodriguez of the Sisters of Charity of St Anne started the first centre in Ahmedabad. On the occasion,  “It was heartening to see the children performing on their own. They are not any lesser than any one else. There is a growing awareness among parents and society for these children.”

The centre has 85 girls and boys from diverse backgrounds in Ahmedabad while at another centre in Kadi, it houses 55 special youth.

Suman Lata Goyal, mother of a 20-year-old specially-abled Nikita says, “The children are trained to develop skills that will help them to stand on their own in society. My daughter used to be aggressive but now, she is calm and is learning things well.”

Sister Ramila Isudas of the centre says, “These children are taught, to look after themselves, read, write, draw, paint. They are also given pre-vocational training. They are encouraged to be involved in extra-curricular activities like games, song, dance and drama and they also celebrate all festivals.”

To India, I come as a pilgrim

February 21, 2009

Good morning friends.  I came across to this article.  And it has a nice story.

Their faces wore a blank expression when Martin Luther King III with his delegation entered the Sabarmati Ashram on Friday.  Kids at the ashram knew he was a famous person and had prepared a play for the occasion.

It was only when King mentioned how his father had been inspired by Mahatma Gandhi that faces of  children at the ashram lit up.

King, with his wife and a few Congressmen, was on a historic visit to the city. His father, Martin Luther King Jr, and wife had been celebrated guests at the ashram exactly 50 years ago on March 1, 1959.

King told the children how Gandhi had inspired his father to lead the civil rights movement in the US. “Gandhiji is the reason we are getting shelter and education and he won us independence. He is our inspiration and though I don’t know about the guest, since he said he’s also a Mahatma fan, he’s our friend,” said one of the girls.

Retracing his father’s footsteps, King III said: “I thank God for this opportunity to be in this great country. I travel the rest of the world as a tourist, but to India I come as a pilgrim.”

At Gujarat Vidyapith, he told students that they had to choose either to be like thermometers and only record things around them or like thermostats and regulate things around.

“My father used to say, Learn non-violence so that we don’t have to face non-existence’. Maybe Gandhi and King Jr are looking down at us waiting for us to play our part now,” said King.

When his father said, I have a dream’, it was not just for America, but for the world. “As we are all one – brothers and sisters, part of one family,” he added.

Delhi, Mumbai to ’switch off’ to save the planet

February 19, 2009

Good morning friends.  I’m reading some new when I came across with this article.  It’s good to hear that something can be done to save our planet.  When I was in my high school days this is my favorite topic to talk about.  That’s why when I saw this news, I read it.  I want to share it with you.

It has been said that for an hour on March 28, Delhi will join in on giving the Earth a rest. Delhi is part of a 371 city initiative which will see cities switching off their lights completely for an hour at 8.30 pm IST.

The initiative, called Earth Hour, is by WWF International and seeks to raise awareness on the pressures on the planet today and the looming spectre of climate change as a result of high energy consumption.

Even as there have been similar ’switching off’ initiatives in the past, this is set to be the largest and most far reaching initiative to raise awareness on pressures on the planet, with some of the greatest, and most energy intensive cities taking part.

This consists of  37 national capitals and other great metropolitan hubs like London, Paris, Beijing, Rome, Moscow, Los Angeles, Rio de Janeiro, Hong Kong, Dubai, Singapore, Athens, Buenos Aires, Toronto, Sydney, Mexico City, Istanbul, Copenhagen, Manila, Las Vegas, Brussels, Cape Town and Helsinki besides New Delhi and Mumbai.

Ahmedabad-Delhi on double track soon

February 14, 2009

Good morning friends.  There will be a project coming up.  It will at least three years to be completed.  But for sure many will benefit on that.

The long-pending demand to have a second track between Ahmedabad and Delhi may finally be granted. The Railway Budget announcement that a second line between Palanpur-Ajmer and Alwar-Bandikui will be laid is a step in that direction.

It pertained to Jaipur and Ajmer divisions and demand of Ahmedabad division hasn’t been accepted.  They feel the Ahmedabad-Palanpur stretch might come in the next budget.   When the two projects are complete, the entire stretch between Delhi-Ahmedabad, barring Ahmedabad-Palanpur, will be double track.

The entire project will take at least three years to be completed. It was vital that this route be made double track as it would have a dedicated freight corridor running parallel to it.   Traffic on Delhi-Ahmedabad route was increasing. Trains from Mumbai headed for Jaipur, Jodhpur and Bikaner were also moving on this route.

The track between Delhi-Rewari has already been completed and work between Jaipur-Dosa-Bandikui, Jaipur-Fulera and Ajmer-Fulera is going on. What is left is only a three-hour distance where hardly any important trains, like Rajdhani and Ashram, cross.

Once Palanpur-Ajmer and Alwar-Bandikui are complete, travel time will definitely come down as trains would not have to wait for crossing.  It can happen that  “Ashram Express takes nearly 17 hours while Rajdhani, which doesn’t have to stop for any crossings, takes just 14 hours to reach Delhi.”

Even taking into account that Ashram has a couple more stops, travel time can be reduced by two hours once the entire Palanpur-Delhi track is complete. There is also a budget this year that will have also new trains from Mumbai for Rajasthan which will pass through Gujarat.
