The first blast took place at Ghaffar market in which at least 20 people were injured. They were rushed to nearby RML Hospital.

Immediately after that, two explosions took place in Connaught Place in which at least 10 people were injured.

Another explosion rocked M-Block market in Greater Kailash-I.

The impact of the blasts in Karol Bagh could be gauged by the fact that an auto was thrown up and got caught in the electrical wires.

Senior Police officials including Joint Commissioner of Police Karnail Singh rushed to the spot in the central district and were assessing the situation.

Indian Mujahideen claims responsibility

In an email to media organisations, Indian Mujahideen, the terror outfit that had claimed responsibility for the July 26 Ahmedabad blasts, said it had carried out the serial blasts in Delhi. It threatened that there would be nine blasts in all.

Sarojini Nagar market, scene of the pre-Diwali eve blasts in 2005, in which more than 60 people were killed, has been evacuated.

30 minutes of rain, hours of traffic jam and waterlogged

September 13, 2008

Good Evening Friends, Friday, September 12, 2008. Friday is last working day in my company,, we all were busy working with the day to day targeted and planned work. Till 5-30 pm the sky was so clear no one even think its going to have heavy rain. After 5-30 pm it starts getting dark and around 5-45 heavy showers starts.

Friday evening was blessed by heavy showers with thunder and lightening in Ahmedabad. It was around 6-00 pm evening. Many parts of ahmedabad city got waterlogged with just half an hour of intense rain. I am sharring following pictures just to let all know what GOD can do in just half an hour.

It was around 6-00pm and I took all following picture from my compound at Naranpura Cross Road, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The best part of storm water outlet system is that all logged water clear in next half an hour once rain stop or slow down. So, around 7-30 pm everything was clear.

After a month’s lull, brief but heavy showers accompanied by thunder and lightening lashed the city on Friday, leaving behind fallen trees and traffic disarray. Many parts of the city got waterlogged after just half-an-hour of intense rain.

It was a chaotic traffic scenario at Ashram Road, Satellite , Panjarapol, Mithakhali cross-roads and C G Road among others. Also, showers left many commuters in midst of heavy downpour. Incessant rainfall also brought waterlogging nightmares back for shoppers in Lal Darwaja and Relief Road in eastern part of the city.

Nine trees were uprooted in various parts of the city like Gomtipur, Kalupur, Airport road, Saraspur among others. “We have deployed AMC workers to clear the road. The trees fell due to heavy rain and high velocity winds,” director (parks and garden), AMC, Jignesh Patel told TOI.

Worst affected were the narrow alleys beside the ‘men at work’ signages at busy Helmet Circle on 132 feet Ring Road, which saw serpentine queues of vehicles. Traffic was restricted on this junction to enable BRTS flyover construction work at the site.

Congress leader Hasmukh Patel got stranded in middle of a chaotic traffic jam which lasted for more than 20 minutes. Patel said, “It was choc-a-bloc at Parimal Gardens after it started raining heavily. Even the traffic constables were found missing from the scene.”

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s tall claims of a foolproof system for rain water stood exposed as sudden showers gave no time for damage control.
