ICC pays Bradman rich tributes

August 30, 2008

Hello friends, Good Evening, it’s already 6-10 pm here. I just come across this. ICC pays rich tribute to Sir Donald Bradman. As I love the game of cricket and I have very high respect for Sir Bradman,, I want to share this with you all.

ICC President David Morgan on Wednesday paid tribute to Donald Bradman on the occasion of the Australian’s birth centenary and said the legend’s name has become a by-word even for the uninitiated.

“No name in cricket conjures up such widespread awe and respect as that of Sir Donald Bradman,” said Morgan.

“Even people with just a passing knowledge of the game or in countries where he never played will invariably recognise the name Bradman as a by-word for brilliance…Soccer has Pele and cricket has Bradman,” he added.

Looking back at Bradman’s awe-inspiring career, the ICC chief said, “Even now, 60 years after his final Test match and with time to put his achievements into context, his batting average of 99.94 still seems scarcely believable, especially when one compares it to those of the many other players to have graced the game at the highest level.

“This centenary offers us an opportunity to reflect upon the role the Don played in popularising the game through his attacking style of batting,” he added.

Morgan also took the occasion to point out that Bradman was much more than just the best batsman the game has ever seen.

“…he was a captain too, he looked to lead as he played, in a positive manner, and his 1948 side including the likes of Keith Miller, Neil Harvey, Arthur Morris and Ray Lindwall is rightly remembered as one of the greatest line-ups of all time.

“We should also remember the way he gave back to the game after he finished playing, as a selector and as an administrator with the Australian Cricket Board and the Imperial Cricket Conference,” he said.

Gujarat State to get 14 new engg colleges from next year

August 30, 2008

Following news is something going to change Gujarat state’s future. Gujarat Students will have 4200 more engineering seats from next year. Meaning Gujarat will have 4200 more engineering brain. If we can visualize the long term benefits of this decision is really overwhelming. So many Students from Guajart are going out of Guajrat to study in Engineering as our seat quota was not enough.

Now 14 new colleges with altogether going to provide 4200 engineering sits ,,,, I appreciate GSTEB for taking such a nice decision which is going to help next generation of Guajrat. Read the following new on times of india website.

Gujarat State Technical Education Board (GSTEB) has decided to introduce 14 engineering colleges in various districts of the state. The reason behind this is to keep a particular trend going on: The number of students enrolling in class XII science stream has been steadily increasing for the last two years. The state technical education board has realised that it will have to give students enough reasons to continue the trend.

The technical education board has already identified 14 districts where engineering colleges will be started. These districts are those which do not have a government engineering college yet.

With the introduction of these 14 colleges, 4,200 engineering seats will increase in the state since every college has been approved with 300 seats. To make these colleges different from others, subjects related to the area where the college is located will be taught as part of curriculum, besides regular subjects.

The technical education board aims to commence these engineering colleges from the next academic year, for which Rs 1 crore has already been sanctioned. Sites for these colleges have also been identified in Porbander, Palanpur and Narmada.

GSTEB director Manish Baradwaj said, “These colleges will start from the next academic year. Recruiting the staff will not be a problem since we plan to hire teachers on a contract basis.”

In the academic year, started June 2008, there were 1,225 more seats offered in government engineering colleges and about 1,000 seats were increased in self-financed institutes. In the next academic year, increase in the number of SFI seats is expected to be about the same number.

Heart of forgiveness -1

August 30, 2008

Good Morning Friends. Today is August 30, 2008. I am bit relax today because it’s Saturday. My office is on but little relax because no school to my elder son shivam. I m reading this article and I like to share with you all. It’s something I believe in.

Forgiveness-Not easy for those who don’t know the power of it and/or don’t practice it in daily life.  Once we start practicing its very easy to have Forgiveness as part of our day to day characteristics. I believe that Forgiveness leads us to Happiness. Will talk more on this some other time but I like this article.

There is a lot of darkness, disharmony and suffering in our world today, a lot of injustice, and violence. And what we must realise is that we are the reason behind all this.

Indeed, the state of much of our outer world is created by the fact that many of us live very split and disconbobulated inner lives; many of us are stuck in very unhealthy conflicts, fixated in great sadness, despair and anger, all of which is continually seeping out of us and contaminating our society. I therefore believe that if we wish to move forward and create a better world, we need a lot of healing of our past.

And here, a very integral part of this process of letting go of the past lies in our ability to forgive. Indeed, we must never underestimate just how many conflicts and how much suffering still persists, because so many of us are so rigid and unyielding and not only have very little idea about how to forgive but also wholly fail to recognise the importance of it.

To be continue in upcoming posts.
