Ahmedabad in list of ‘credit-worthy’ cities

August 31, 2008

Good Morning friends, today is Sunday, August 31, 2008.  I  start my day with morning walk start at 5-30 am and I walk 45 minutes today. It was really good time. I enjoyed it a lot there in morning walk. Back home from there, I was reading new paper and I read this news. It’s something I like. My city Ahmedabad is in list of credit-worth cities. Its matter of proud for me being citizen of  ahmedabd. Our Municipal Corporation called AMC that’s Ahmedabad Municipal Corporations is among the top ten municipal corporations of india.

Being Gujarati and being from Gujarat I like to let all know that not only ahmedabad city from Gujarat state but also Surat, vadodara and Rajkot were there in the list. It’s it matter of proud for me! It is. Read the complete news below.

Ahmedabad has done itself proud, again! The city is now among the top ten Indian cities whose municipal corporations are the “most credit worthy”.

And Ahmedabad is not the only city from Gujarat to make it to the list. Gujarat’s ‘Diamond City’ Surat has topped the list with Nashik after notching the highest average household income in India and best GDP growth. Moreover, Vadodara and Rajkot too have found a place for themselves in the top 10 list.

Leading rating agencies Crisil and ICRA have graded the Indian cities’ urban civic bodies based on the utilization of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) funds and other parameters, including operating and financial efficiency.

Simply put, if the municipal corporations of these cities decide to issue bonds, the takers would reap rich dividends.

Crisil and ICRA had recently carried out this exercise of giving corporate credit ratings (CCRs) to 69 urban local bodies (ULBs) under the mandate from Union ministry for urban development, as a part of JNNURM.

“Surat’s civic body has the capacity to recover the funds spent on infrastructure development. Surat and the other three cities of Gujarat are good bets among the present lot of ULB’s,” Akash Deep Jyoti, head, corporate and government ratings, CRISIL.

Jyoti added that the ratings are based on the five major parameters — legal and administrative framework, economic base of service area, economic management, operating efficiency and service quality and financial performance.

Under JNNURM, Surat has Rs 500 crore BRTS project just kicking off. It has achieved 65 percent utilisation of JNNURM funds, the highest among all cities.

In all, 31 projects worth Rs 2,194 crore have been sanctioned for the city under JNNURM, to be completed by 2012. Confident of achieving the target, S Aparna, Surat municipal commissioner, says: “Surat is witnessing a phenomenal growth and by the next decade, this would be India’s best city in terms of infrastructure and all-around development.”

ICC pays Bradman rich tributes

August 30, 2008

Hello friends, Good Evening, it’s already 6-10 pm here. I just come across this. ICC pays rich tribute to Sir Donald Bradman. As I love the game of cricket and I have very high respect for Sir Bradman,, I want to share this with you all.

ICC President David Morgan on Wednesday paid tribute to Donald Bradman on the occasion of the Australian’s birth centenary and said the legend’s name has become a by-word even for the uninitiated.

“No name in cricket conjures up such widespread awe and respect as that of Sir Donald Bradman,” said Morgan.

“Even people with just a passing knowledge of the game or in countries where he never played will invariably recognise the name Bradman as a by-word for brilliance…Soccer has Pele and cricket has Bradman,” he added.

Looking back at Bradman’s awe-inspiring career, the ICC chief said, “Even now, 60 years after his final Test match and with time to put his achievements into context, his batting average of 99.94 still seems scarcely believable, especially when one compares it to those of the many other players to have graced the game at the highest level.

“This centenary offers us an opportunity to reflect upon the role the Don played in popularising the game through his attacking style of batting,” he added.

Morgan also took the occasion to point out that Bradman was much more than just the best batsman the game has ever seen.

“…he was a captain too, he looked to lead as he played, in a positive manner, and his 1948 side including the likes of Keith Miller, Neil Harvey, Arthur Morris and Ray Lindwall is rightly remembered as one of the greatest line-ups of all time.

“We should also remember the way he gave back to the game after he finished playing, as a selector and as an administrator with the Australian Cricket Board and the Imperial Cricket Conference,” he said.

Gujarat State to get 14 new engg colleges from next year

August 30, 2008

Following news is something going to change Gujarat state’s future. Gujarat Students will have 4200 more engineering seats from next year. Meaning Gujarat will have 4200 more engineering brain. If we can visualize the long term benefits of this decision is really overwhelming. So many Students from Guajart are going out of Guajrat to study in Engineering as our seat quota was not enough.

Now 14 new colleges with altogether going to provide 4200 engineering sits ,,,, I appreciate GSTEB for taking such a nice decision which is going to help next generation of Guajrat. Read the following new on times of india website.

Gujarat State Technical Education Board (GSTEB) has decided to introduce 14 engineering colleges in various districts of the state. The reason behind this is to keep a particular trend going on: The number of students enrolling in class XII science stream has been steadily increasing for the last two years. The state technical education board has realised that it will have to give students enough reasons to continue the trend.

The technical education board has already identified 14 districts where engineering colleges will be started. These districts are those which do not have a government engineering college yet.

With the introduction of these 14 colleges, 4,200 engineering seats will increase in the state since every college has been approved with 300 seats. To make these colleges different from others, subjects related to the area where the college is located will be taught as part of curriculum, besides regular subjects.

The technical education board aims to commence these engineering colleges from the next academic year, for which Rs 1 crore has already been sanctioned. Sites for these colleges have also been identified in Porbander, Palanpur and Narmada.

GSTEB director Manish Baradwaj said, “These colleges will start from the next academic year. Recruiting the staff will not be a problem since we plan to hire teachers on a contract basis.”

In the academic year, started June 2008, there were 1,225 more seats offered in government engineering colleges and about 1,000 seats were increased in self-financed institutes. In the next academic year, increase in the number of SFI seats is expected to be about the same number.

Heart of forgiveness -1

August 30, 2008

Good Morning Friends. Today is August 30, 2008. I am bit relax today because it’s Saturday. My office is on but little relax because no school to my elder son shivam. I m reading this article and I like to share with you all. It’s something I believe in.

Forgiveness-Not easy for those who don’t know the power of it and/or don’t practice it in daily life.  Once we start practicing its very easy to have Forgiveness as part of our day to day characteristics. I believe that Forgiveness leads us to Happiness. Will talk more on this some other time but I like this article.

There is a lot of darkness, disharmony and suffering in our world today, a lot of injustice, and violence. And what we must realise is that we are the reason behind all this.

Indeed, the state of much of our outer world is created by the fact that many of us live very split and disconbobulated inner lives; many of us are stuck in very unhealthy conflicts, fixated in great sadness, despair and anger, all of which is continually seeping out of us and contaminating our society. I therefore believe that if we wish to move forward and create a better world, we need a lot of healing of our past.

And here, a very integral part of this process of letting go of the past lies in our ability to forgive. Indeed, we must never underestimate just how many conflicts and how much suffering still persists, because so many of us are so rigid and unyielding and not only have very little idea about how to forgive but also wholly fail to recognise the importance of it.

To be continue in upcoming posts.

Dhoni back at No. 1 in ODI rankings

August 29, 2008

Good news for me and my country people that Dhoni the indicant cricket team skipper is again on TOP of ICC ranking. I read it on ndtv’s website.

India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni toppled his South African counterpart Greame Smith to regain the top spot in the latest ICC ranking for ODI batsmen.

By virtue of his consistent performance, including 76 and 71 in the pevious two one-dayers of the on-going ODI series against Sri Lanka, Dhoni has 803 rating points in his kitty, 27 points higher than Smith who occupies the second spot.

Dhoni had previously occupied the number one position for a brief period in 2006.

Australia captain Ricky Ponting is in the third spot with 751 points followed by team-mate Michael Hussey and England skipper Kevin Pietersen.

Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar is placed the ninth while an out of form Yuvraj Singh is languishing at 18th.

Meanwhile, comeback man Zaheer Khan is the lone Indian bowler in the top 20 ODI bowlers chart in the 14th spot with 642 rating points.

Australia’s Nathan Bracken leads the table, followed by Kiwi skipper Daniel Vettori, team-mate Shane Bond, England youngster Stuart Broad and Sri Lankan spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan.

However, no Indian representation is there in the all-rounders chart which is being led by Pakistan skipper Shaoib Malik. England’s Andrew Flintoff and Kiwi Jacob Oram find themselves in the second and third position respectively.

Although India has already pocketed the five-match ODI series against the Lankans with one match to go, but it didn’t help Twenty20 World Champions to move up the ODI championship table as they find themselves in the fourth spot.

Australia continued to lead the pack, followed by South Africa and New Zealand.

Nature Love -1

August 29, 2008

Nature, in the broadest sense, is equivalent to the natural world, physical universe, material world or material universe. “Nature” refers to the phenomena of the physical world, and also to life in general. Manufactured objects and human interaction are not considered part of nature unless qualified in ways such as “human nature” or “the whole of nature”. Nature is generally distinguished from the supernatural. It ranges in scale from the subatomic to the galactic.

DhirendraDhirendra

The word nature is derived from the Latin word natura, or “the course of things, natural character.” Natura was a Latin translation of the Greek word physis (φύσις), which originally related to the intrinsic characteristics that plants, animals, and other features of the world develop of their own accord.[2] This is shown in the first written use of the word φύσις, in connection with a plant. The concept of nature as a whole, the physical universe, is one of several expansions of the original notion; it began with certain core applications of the word φύσις by pre-Socratic philosophers, and has steadily gained currency ever since. This usage was confirmed during the advent of modern scientific method in the last several centuries.

A Time for Prayer

August 29, 2008

This spiritual linkage also nurtures forgiveness to the point that the leader learns not to blame others for his shortcomings.  Instead one discovers the wisdom to shed excess baggage and, feeding off a reservoir of positive energy, to resume his life’s journey from a fresh perspective. At the same time, one learns the virtue of sacrifice, the ability to endure pain and suffering for a higher purpose.  He also becomes more resilient, better able to bounce back from adversity.

Each time the leader rediscovers or reaffirms his place in the universe, he draws power from that inner spirit – what Oriented philosophers refers to as chi and what Star Wars mythology has made popular as the “Force”.  In simple terms, it is the ennobling and enabling power of love, a boundless spiritual energy that keeps him mindful and appreciative of every living moment.

Armed with this, the leader is able to live – not just articulate – the values and principles he stands for.  From there, he has only to commit his best and trust that he will find the right way for others to follow.

Sir Donald Bradman -3

August 28, 2008

Bush cricketer

In 1920–21, Bradman acted as scorer for the local Bowral team, captained by his uncle George Whatman, and once filled in when the team was short of players, scoring 37 not out. During the season, Bradman’s father took him to the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) to watch the fifth Ashes Test match. On that day, Bradman formed an ambition. “I shall never be satisfied”, he told his father, “until I play on this ground”. Bradman left school in 1922 and went to work for a local real estate agent who encouraged his sporting pursuits by giving him time off when necessary. He gave up cricket in favour of tennis for two years, but resumed playing cricket in 1925–26.

Bradman became a regular selection for the Bowral team; several outstanding performances earned him the attention of the Sydney daily press. Competing on matting-over-concrete pitches, Bowral played other rural towns in the Berrima District competition. Against Wingello, a team that included the future Test bowler Bill O’Reilly, Bradman made 234. In the competition final against Moss Vale, which extended over five consecutive Saturdays, Bradman scored 320 not out. During the following Australian winter (1926), an ageing Australian team lost The Ashes in England, and a number of Test players retired.

The New South Wales Cricket Association began a hunt for new talent. Mindful of Bradman’s big scores for Bowral, the association wrote to him, requesting his attendance at a practice session in Sydney. He was subsequently chosen for the “Country Week” tournaments at both cricket and tennis, to be played during separate weeks. His boss presented him with an ultimatum: he could have only one week away from work, and therefore had to choose between the two sports. He chose cricket. Bradman’s performances during Country Week resulted in an invitation to play grade cricket in Sydney for St George in the 1926–27 season. He scored 110 on his debut, making his first century on a turf wicket. On 1 January 1927, he turned out for the NSW second team. For the remainder of the season, Bradman travelled the 130 kilometres (81 mi) from Bowral to Sydney every Saturday to play for St George.

India beat Sri Lanka & win series

August 28, 2008

Good Morning friends, today is Thursday, August 28, 2008. My day started with prayer at Dadaji’s house as today is Thursday.  Back home I was reading new paper and I read this new which make me feel proud. As you all know I love game of crick too much. India won their first one-day series in Sri Lanka. This is first every win of one-day series in Sri lank by Indian crick team. Being Indian I take proud on my self, my country team beat Sir Lank in their home country. I like to Congratulate Mahendra Dhoni and rest of all the team member and wish best of luck for future matches.

India won their first one-day series in Sri Lanka, triumphing by 46 runs at the Premadasa as the hosts lost consecutive home series for the first time.

India captain Mahendra Dhoni continued his fine form, hitting 71 and putting on 143 from 141 balls with Suresh Raina (76) as India were all out for 258.

Left-arm seamer Thilan Thushara took a career-best 5-47 for Sri Lanka.

But despite a blistering 60 from the veteran Sanath Jayasuriya, Sri Lanka’s batsmen were dismissed for 212.

The match, originally scheduled for Tuesday, had been postponed by a day because of rain.

And India, who had won the previous two games in the five-game series after losing the opener, put in a fine bowling performance to steal the series.

Harbhajan Singh found excessive turn under the floodlights in Colombo, and his figures of 3-40 were instrumental in providing India with the cutting edge they needed to press home their advantage.

Sir Donald Bradman -2

August 27, 2008

Youth and early career

Donald Bradman was the youngest child of George and Emily (née Whatman) Bradman, and was born on 27 August 1908 at Cootamundra, New South Wales (NSW). He had a brother, Victor, and three sisters—Islet, Lilian and Elizabeth May. When Bradman was about two-and-a-half years old, his parents moved to Bowral in the NSW Southern Highlands.

Bradman practised batting incessantly during his youth. He invented his own solo cricket game, using a cricket stump for a bat, and a golf ball. A water tank, mounted on a curved brick stand, stood on a paved area behind the family home. When hit into the curved brick facing of the stand, the ball rebounded at high speed and varying angles—and Bradman would attempt to hit it again. This form of practice developed his timing and reactions to a high degree. In more formal cricket, he hit his first century at the age of 12, playing for Bowral Public School against Mittagong High School.
